It is important to map out all your expenses. That way you know exactly what you spend on business (or will spend in the future).

Types of expense items

To know the minimum amount you need to earn, it is best to first list all your annual expenses. In this overview you include the following expense items:

  • Insurance
  • Pension plan
  • Housing costs, such as rented or purchased business premises
  • Telephone costs or a company phone
  • Internet
  • Administration costs (the costs of your accounting package and any bookkeeper)
  • Relevant courses or training that you attend
  • Transportation (think of petrol and maintenance costs)

Please note that these are annual expenses. Initial expenses, such as buying a new laptop, are not included.
